Multiple Countries Update Safety Access Regulations Automobile Wheels

Recently, the European Union, Turkey, Southeast Asian countries and other major automotive trading regions have successively revised the technical certification standards for automotive aluminum alloy wheels, which puts forward more stringent testing requirements for the material composition, impact resistance, salt spray corrosion and fatigue durability of forged wheels, directly affecting the export layout of a large number of domestic forged wheel foreign trade manufacturers.

The new regulations require all imported aftermarket modified wheels and OEM supporting wheels to complete full-load fatigue test, radial impact test and neutral salt spray test of more than 500 hours, and manufacturers need to provide official test reports issued by designated third-party institutions. In the past, many small and medium-sized trading enterprises only relied on appearance processing to deliver orders, and now they are blocked from the market due to incomplete certification documents.

Industry statistics show that in the first half of 2026, the customs detention rate of uncertified cast and forged wheel products increased by 42% year-on-year. Head forged wheel manufacturers have taken the lead in completing EU TÜV, ISO and other international certifications, and standardized the whole process from raw aluminum bar procurement, hot forging molding, CNC precision processing to surface coating.

While the compliance threshold is rising, the market concentration of the forged wheel industry is also accelerating. Small factories with incomplete certification and backward processing technology are gradually eliminated, and formal manufacturers with complete qualification certificates and stable product quality will further seize the export market share of aftermarket refitting and automotive supporting fields. Foreign trade purchasers are also more inclined to cooperate with manufacturers that can provide complete certification documents to avoid customs clearance risks and after-sales safety disputes.
